WELCOME TO THE DAM HOTEL

The Dam Hotel now stands in what was a paddock 30 years ago, set in a rural area with small farms. The foresight of Mr. Bruce MacDougal D.C.M. (1915-1995) created the hotel over a period of 18 months even bringing water and sewerage from Wyong 8 kms away to pioneer the way for development in what is now a suburb called Hamlyn Terrace, complete with a 1200 pupil high school to service the thousands of people who now live in the area. Prior to this the MacDougal family built and provided free of charge three football fields, with lighting, for use by the community at a time when these facilities were not provided by the government in the area. The fields are still in use however only two are now operational and it is worth noting that they were a designated 24/7 emergency rescue helicopter landing area for the Wyong Hospital when no others were available. Lives were saved.

A major addition to the business has been the addition of the Liquor Barn built in 1999 with its unique scissor wooden truss system for the roof support over a wide expanse encompassing the largest refrigeration units on the Central Coast.

The business is still family owned and run and celebrated its thirtieth anniversary in December 2008.

The hotel has a strong involvement in the community supporting Legacy, sponsoring a number of sporting teams and of course the local Bush Fire Brigade.

The Dam Hotel is the oldest hotel in the Wyong Shire to be still in the hands of the original owners thus ensuring the public of continuing good service and community involvement.
